 At the recent 25th Annual Geelong Advertiser Business Excellence Awards, Geelong Conference Centre and Four Points by Sheraton Geelong highlighted the outstanding level of conference facilitates in this region, winning the Best Tourism Accommodation and Hospitality Awards respectively. The Awards event is the highlight of the Geelong business community’s calendar and recognises outstanding achievements and excellence in performance, marketing, sustainability and vision.

The Geelong Conference Centre won the Best Tourism Accommodation Award. A $2 million upgrade has brought significant benefits to Geelong Conference Centre, set in idyllic surrounds in Eastern Park. All of the bedrooms and ensuites were totally renovated, wireless internet was made available throughout the centre, state-of-the art audio visual equipment was added to all meeting rooms, public areas were fully renovated and the gardens rejuvenated.

Glenn Jones, Marketing Manager of the Geelong Conference Centre said “Businesses are judged on not only their vision and strategic direction but also on corporate citizenship and environmental sustainability. The Geelong conference centre is a strong supporter of Not For Profit groups and we have also reduced our green house emissions by 36% in 6 months.”

Four Points by Sheraton Geelong won the Hospitality Award at this years Award’s ceremony. Having previously won Large Business Award in 2008 and Tourism Accommodation Award in 2009, Four Points by Sheraton Geelong has now achieved “Hall Of Fame” Status having won the Geelong Advertiser Business Excellence Awards in three different categories.
Dan Simmonds Chairman Judging Panel said the judging of this year’s awards placed importance on marketing, technology, corporate citizenship and sustainability as part of the changing business world.
 “Having this wonderful community hold the Four Points by Sheraton Geelong in high regard as the areas premier conferencing, corporate and leisure venue is testament to the investment in our product and our people”.
