85-year-old embarks on Great Ocean Road skydive

Ossie LeMarquand proved that age is just a number this month, when he decided to step out of a plane 15,000 feet in the air for a tandem skydive this month for his 85th birthday.

Tandem master Steve Williamson from Skydive Australia, who facilitated Ossie’s jump, told Business Events Geelong that it was a privilege to take Ossie up into the sky and share the experience with him.

“He was a lovely guy that was keen to put age aside, challenge his nerves and fall out of a perfectly good aircraft.”

Family and friends gathered at the landing area and it was all cheers for Ossie as he landed safely.

“We’ll see you for jump number two Ossie,” Williamson said.

The 85-year-old chose the Great Ocean Road experience, which saw him exit from the Barwon Heads dropzone near Geelong.

A total of 60 seconds of exhilerating freefall was achieved, and Ossie was able to enjoy 360 degree coastal views of Torquay and the Great Ocean Road.
