ATE famil program showcases the best of Geelong and The Bellarine

Following a record-breaking Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), Victoria’s finest offerings were unveiled to an international audience during the ATE familiarisation program. This year’s program spotlighted the diverse and vibrant experiences of Victoria, with a particular focus on Geelong and The Bellarine.

The familiarisation program was extensive, featuring over 330 Victorian products showcased through 62 itineraries, 18 of which were concentrated in our region of Geelong and The Bellarine. This initiative provided a valuable platform for international buyers and media representatives to immerse themselves in the inclusivity, diversity, and creativity that define our region’s products and experiences.

Geelong and The Bellarine: A Diverse Portfolio of Experiences

Participants were treated to an array of delightful experiences highlighting the unique charm of our region. The program included site visits, exploratory opportunities, and indulgence in the region’s renowned food and wine offerings.

Culinary and Aerial Adventures

One of the standout experiences was a degustation lunch paired with local wines and handcrafted cocktails aboard The Q Train. This unique dining experience, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Bellarine Peninsula, left a lasting impression on the participants.

Adding to the adventure, Liberty Balloons provided a magical hot air balloon flight, offering breathtaking views of the region’s landscapes. This aerial experience allowed participants to appreciate the natural beauty of Geelong and The Bellarine from a unique vantage point.

Wine, Foraging, and Mussel Farming

The itinerary also included a visit to Jack Rabbit Vineyard, where guests enjoyed a delicious lunch paired with exquisite wine tastings. This stop highlighted the region’s rich viticultural heritage and the exceptional quality of its wines.

A cooking masterclass at Tarra Queenscliff added a touch of culinary creativity to the program. Participants learned the art of sourcing local ingredients and crafting delectable desserts, gaining insights into the region’s commitment to sustainable and innovative culinary practices.

Rounding off the experience was an excursion with Portarlington Mussel Tours, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of mussel farming. This hands-on tour provided a deeper understanding of the local seafood industry.
