Coming to The Dome

THE RK GROUP are set to open the doors to Public at The Dome.
The vibrant new eatery draws inspiration from the unique surrounds of the architecturally-award winning library and boasts a vista and decking looking over Johnstone Park.
In creating Public, THE RK GROUP’s ambition is to do more than serve great coffee, food and wine. The café is very much about integrating with the Library’s sense of place and about giving the CBD’s growing community a fantastic food experience.

Public is a modern space with a warm, industrial feel. Steeped with natural light, THE RK GROUP has created a comfortable space where customers can get breakfast and a quick morning coffee, or catch up with friends over lunch and afternoon tea. The café has seating for 60, is licensed and library members receive a 5% discount.
Materials of black lined marine ply cabinetry, stunning agrestic soft blue gloss tiles, Prouvre chairs with black powder coated frame and oak veneer seat & back, solid messmate timber table tops, natural woven Byron pendant lights and hanging baskets of cascading green foliage adorn the space.
Geelong Library & Heritage Centre Manager Deb Sansom said, ‘Public is the perfect addition to The Dome and to Geelong’s cultural precinct – a place for conversation, communities and cake, where patrons can gather and enjoy the amazing ambience of the library and Johnstone Park. Oh and yes – you can bring your coffee into the library!’
The café will open in mid-September and can be accessed through The Dome, Little Malop Street or Johnstone Park. There is free Wifi at The Dome.
