What’s new, what’s hot and what’s coming in Geelong and The Bellarine.

As a premier destination for delegates and event planners, Geelong and The Bellarine is ever-changing its offering, providing an array of new reasons to host business events in the second largest city in Victoria Australia.

The new year has kicked off with some incredible new offerings, a range of new openings planned for 2023 and future projects that are guaranteed to delight business organisers and delegates a like.

Holiday Inn Geelong

Business events delegates will be spoilt for choice with a range of new openings in 2023 including the much-anticipated opening of the Holiday Inn Geelong which will bring an additional 180 contemporary spacious rooms and suites to the region. Prior to the Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre opening in 2026 this will be the largest hotel located in Geelong and the Bellarine.

The hotel itself will also feature flexible guest areas with a collection of dining options, a heated indoor swimming pool and fitness centre, and an open lobby that serves as a welcoming and energetic communal environment for guests and the local community and four purpose-built event spaces.

Opening date is currently scheduled for Q2 in 2023.

GMBHA Stadium Higher Mark

GMBHA Stadium is undergoing an extension which is due to launch mid-2023. The extension incorporates a 300-seat banquet/conference facility and fully-equipped media centre. This is in addition to its already existing conference and event spaces which combined can accommodate up to 2,450.

 

The Geelong Arts Centre

This year the Geelong Arts Centre will transform into Australia’s largest regional arts centre. It will feature multiple venues/spaces, 3 world-class theatres with the capacity to seat 1400, an outdoor atrium and dining/ function options aplenty. Geelong Arts Centre will be the pinnacle of the regions creative achievements and will attract visitors from across Australia.

 

The Geelong Exhibition and Convention Centre

The much-awaited Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre will open in 2026. The Geelong waterfront precinct will feature a 1,000 seat plenary & 3,700sqm of multi-purpose space to accommodate small and large events, as well as a 200-room upscale hotel.

The addition of the Geelong Convention and Exhibition centre will enhance Geelong’s position as a premier city and an events leader in Victoria by enabling more international events, exhibitors, and attendees.
